First published cartoon in colour! The Province, Feb. 14, 2016.
After drawing all my cartoons by hand up until this point, my husband convinced me to draw them on the computer. What powers of persuasion, eh? Well, he did convince me to marry him after all… Anyway, I’m a bit of a technophobe. I like being efficient and learning new things initially isn’t efficient so I was worried. Prior to this I was drawing a cartoon a day by hand and so had quite a few in the reserve to draw from (pardon the pun, or not) in submitting for publishing in The Province. This bought me time to learn the new software (Clip Studio Paint) on my Surface Pro 2 or 3. I can’t remember. Let’s say 2.5? Seems fair. I am a math teacher after all. ha.
Anyway, this was the first cartoon published in colour and it happened to be Valentine’s Day. The inspiration for this comic comes from my own love of Purdy’s (or Brussell’s) hedgehog chocolates. Mmmmm soooooo good. One day as I ate one, I just pondered, “I wonder what animals eat hedgehogs.” and BOOM this cartoon was born.
